My Blackberry freezes when using Audio Player & while transferring the songs via Bluetooth11/30/2011 Unable To Install Firmware Ver 5.0 On My Curve 8520
It Shows The Following Error Shown In The Image(As Attachment) Everytime ! However My Internet Connectivity Is On Its Excellency ! Still Shows The Same Error After The Reinstallation Of BB Software Updater Plzz help in this matter...... Actually My BB is getting hanged when using Audio Player & while transferring the songs via Bluetooth Thats Why I Am Reinstalling The Firmware Thanx In Advance ! Answer: Download the latest firmware to your computer first. Instead of letting the updater do it, go get the exe file. Typically you will find the link for your OS in the sub forum for your device. You can also do a google search for the following string " *carrier* blackberry download page". Select the software you want, in this case blackberry device software. Select your device and download the latest OS available. The first specs we look at when choosing a cellphone are the battery life numbers. We know that eventually we’re going to see performance loss, and [Dr. West] wanted to see if there’s a way to delay the*inevitable. What he found is that ambient temperature affects the battery throughout its life. He set out tobuild a phone chiller to slow the degradation of the battery.
The research that he points to shows that at room temperature, a Lithium battery will lose 20% of its capacity each year. This seems like a dubious number so do share links to studies that state otherwise in the comments. Whether that 20% is right or not, the point is that cooling the battery will preserve it. With that in mind, [Dr. West] put together a pod that uses a peltier cooler and a heat sink to host his Blackberry while he sleeps. He figures he can reduce the capacity lost per year from 20% down to 14%. This of course comes at the expense of running that cooler every night (in addition to charging the phone when it needs it). But perhaps this solution will spark an idea that leads to a better one. With the newer OS (I think I'm on 4.something), is there a way to program, or have the phone remember different option choices for different internet sites?
I have one site that I need to access regularly, but can't stand to unless style sheets are disabled. It's also one of the few that I need javascript enabled. Sure would be nice if there was a way to remember those, or even toggle them, without having to go into options. Is there any other way that I may not know about? Well after 2 days with the att Galaxy S2 I can say for sure Android is no match for bb as a communication device. Yes, the S2 is a media powerhouse with Flash-- and it record 1080p for god sakes, but it's so damn clumsy to make a call, type a sms, check email... There are other issues with Android as well:
-No Sound Profiles: WTF, this is so stupid, I can either have ringer or vibrate, but to completely mute I need to go into settings which is 10 taps away. And why is there a stupid vibrate task symbol when I set it to ring and vibrate. -No LED indicator -No bedside mod. As advanced as it is, it expects me to switch to silent every time I go to bed? -Clumsy, clumsy, clumsy... takes me twice the amount of time to push out a sms. Finally...email is no where near instant. Even with the Gmail app which is suppose to be push... Push my ***. Of course, its got advantages over BB but for me I think I'm going back. Will just suck it up and get the white 9810. I have recently fed my new gadget/tech addiction with a Bold 9900. I'm upgrading from a Bold 9780. If my memory is correct, the Blackberry 9780 OS allowed for the customization of ringtones WHILE keeping the default alerts/sounds (ie. e-mail, text messages) of the Active Profile. This is a function I'd like to keep if possible.
I restored my data from my old 9780 to my new 9900 and everything seemed fine until I started playing around with the custom settings. Once I made a change, the 'Notifier Tone - Active Profile' setting would disappear - never to be seen again. The choice of "Active Profile' is no longer available/an option once I make a change and I would be stuck with an alert (like Sanguine) for all my incoming e-mail, texts etc. Previously; phone calls from friends would ring with their respective ringtones while e-mails and texts would keep their Active Profile sounds. This doesn't seem possible with the 9900. I've noticed this on the original stock OS version and it's still the case with the recently leaked (v.7.1.074) version. I've tried to restore the same data and settings from my 9780 and the 'Notifier Tone - Active Profile' setting disappeared and a default tone (Sanguine/Eager) took it's place. I don't think I'm going crazy.....then again.....? Bottom Line - I'd like my custom ringtones for my contacts while keeping the Notifier Tones (e-mail, texts, etc.) to remain the same as the Active Profile (ie. Normal Profile). is this possible? Or do I wait for an updated OS version? Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Cheers. Answer: Most of what you're looking for has just been re"tabbed" for easy of use. If you tap the "speaker" icon to open its window, you'll see at the bottom "change sounds and alerts". Tap that, and you'll find most of the previous features you're used to seeing. Open this link in your devices browser, to download and restore the old factory ring tones here: http://mobile.blackberry.com/resourc...0x360_03_b.jad Hope this helps My wife has an iPhone 4. If she wanted to renew her plan by buying a new BB could she alternate using the new BB and her iPhone simply by swapping SIM cards? I know she would need to switch to a BB data plan, which I believe would work for her iPhone.
The BB would work better for her daily work needs, but I know she won't want to give up her iPhone for media use. But the only way she would do it is if she could easily switch back and forth between the two. Answer: The bb data plan will work with the iphone. It would be the swapping out of the Sim that would be a pain. I believe the iPhone 4 uses a micro Sim so you would have to get an adapter to make it a regular Sim for the bb Hi there,
I'll be going to Canada in a couple of days. I would like to use my BB while up there...make calls and send and receive BBM. Are there any other ways, besides changing my ATT plan to get service in Canada at a reasonable cost? I was thinking if there a prepaid SIM card that I can use that has talk and data...is such a thing offered anywhere in Toronto Thanks I've cobbled together a whole house audio system which basically has my music living on my windows PC upstairs that streams to an apple TV downstairs connected to two audio receivers with multiple pairs of speakers. With my wife's iPod/iPad I have access to control the music using it's remote application and it's really slick when it works. I can search/find songs play lists and out comes the music. Success is 50/50, sometimes I need to reboot the apple TV and sometimes restart iTunes.
I'm now looking for something more blackberry friendly. I've got a bold 9900 and a playbook on the way. Ideally I'd have an application running on my PC and a device downstairs plugged into my stereo that I can stream to. I'd use my playbook/bold as a remote where I can view all my tunes and select which ones I want to play/queue. Anyone got any good low cost suggestions that are blackberry friendly? The apple TV was a great deal at $99. If I can't find anything good I may need to go out and buy a used iTouch just for a remote as my wife complains everytime I snag one of her devices to play music... she's been trying to convince me to go iphone/pad but I'm resisiting. BTW I'm open to running Linux and also have a PS3/Wii I could stream to but in past experience I always needed to have the TV on to view the music through these devices, I want to avoid that by seeing the playlists/songs on the Playbook/Bold. I'd also like to avoid streaming from the device itself to save on battery and not tie up any one device for playing music. What I'm really looking for is song control that is cross compatible with the bold or playbook depending on which one I have in my hand at any given time. Thanks I'm not sure how A2DP would help here as I really don't want to have to stream from the PB or BB, I want to use them as controls with the computer being the source. That would allow me to walk away with the devices and still have the music playing (and not draining the devices batteries) I downloaded and gave Tiggit a try, it doesn't remove the flakey iTunes from the equation but I'm at least getting basic music control and I can target the apple TV as a speaker device. A question though on Tiggit, what's the difference between the demo and full version? The demo only allows me to browse by songs which is a real pain with 8k+ songs. Ideally I'd like to browse by artist or album much like I can on Apple products. Also does anyone know if Tiggit is being ported to the playbook? Still looking for better options other then having to leverage iTunes+Apple TV if anyone has any! A few months back i loaded the OS 6 onto my Bold 9700. since then as soon as any of the text messages are 1 month old they disappear. there is information of who and when it was sent beside a green Text draft icon, but when i click on it, the text is empty. this seems to be the problem with OS 6 only as the same thing occurs on my friend's 9800 Torch. but there is no problem with my Bold 9000 running OS 5. the only way for the messages to stay longer is if you save each message individually. but this is a mega pain in the *** as i keep only the messages that i need and delete the rest.
there is more than enough memory on the handset and also the battery pull is not working. when in the "OPTIONS" of text messages there is no option for "Keep Messages Forever". i have also reloaded the software successfully a few times is there actually any solution or is this simply a huge blunder by BLACKBERRY ? please help. thanks Answer: You can choose how long to keep any Messages. From Messages (not Text Messages) press Menu, select Options and then Messages Display and Actions, scroll down this page to the bottom and set Days To Keep Messages." Thus you can set the messages to be kept forever. This will stop the 'green out' of older sms messages but will probably take up more internal memory over time. |
