I have a 9630 tour and it states type "blackberry" where is the enter key? I am trying to unlock the phone so I can put my password in to use it.. I cannot find the enter key. to get past this point. Please help.

I just got myself a new Blackberry Torch (AT&T) from Best Buy. Since I do not live here, I would like to unlock the phone so I am able to use it back in my home country. I had a couple of questions:

1. Will the 3G work while I am back in Spain? My carrier there is Orange. Even if 3G doesn't work, the internet can work under GSM / WiFi, correct?


2. Can someone help me with all the steps required to unlock the phone. Do I need to have any SIM card inside the phone to unlock it? Does it have to be AT&T? What is exactly the process? I've seen many websites that sell you codes for $5 or so, but not sure what I need to do to actually unlock the phone and have it work in Spain.

To unlock:

OPTIONS > DEVICE > ADVANCED SYSTEM SETTINGS > SIM CARD

Then type:

MEPD

You will see the lock status. Only the second one should be active (Network).

Type:

MEP2

Enter code.

Done.

If i unlock my bold 9650 will i still be able to use it on verizon network?

Answer:

Yes, I do this all the time! Quickly pop in the sim card and use it wherever and then go right back to verizon. It's very useful, to switch you just go to mobile network and then under network technology it is 1XEV and Global that is verizon and the gsm/umts is your unlocked sim card options.

I just updated to 5.0 and my phone and the keyboard unlocks when I: plug it into charger/PC, unplug it from charger/PC, and remove it from holster. Is there any way to deactivate this and keep the keyboard locked?

I have a unlocked tmobile 9700 white. Im useing it on att and the 3g wont work. only says EDGE. why?

Because they use different radio bands for the 3G.

AT&T 9700 won't get T-Mobiles 3G.
T-Mobile 9700 won't get AT&T's 3G.

I'm with Bell Mobility in Canada. So i've started the process of entering the unlock code but it does not tell me if it accepted it or not. The process is type in MEPD and then entered the first code after the prompt, proceeded with the 2nd code after the prompt but at NO time did it say there was an error. Also it doesn't tell me if everything went right either. I can't tell if the network is disabled, or enabled, or whether service provider is disabled. The menu is the same as when i didn't unlock it at all. Just shows the ID number and my phone number.

MEPD must be in capital letters, thus holding down the shift key and pressing all the letters at the SAME time.

I have a Blackberry Curve 8330 that I purchased through Alltel. I have recentley moved out of the state I used my Alltel service in. Since I have moved I am going to be using a new Service Provider (Sprint). I have been looking online all day for ways to unlock my phone and the best way I could find was to call Alltel and ask them for the code. Well when I did so (twice) I was told that Alltel does not have an unlock code for my phone and that Sprint would have to do what they call a "Flash". Well Sprint told me that I needed to get the phone unlocked. After searching around I found some forums that showed how to unlock a phone and I have come across two problems. The first is that in my phones options there in NOT an option called SIM Card. I have followed step by step instructions on how to find it and it's not there. Also my phone does not have an IMEI code. It's not under the battery nor does typing *#06# help at all. So if anyone can help me figure out how to unlock my phone for use with Sprint that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time (I'm sorry this post is so long) and I hope to hear respones soon.

You can't unlock CDMA devices. (Those things you found online about asking the carrier for the code refer to GSM carriers and devices.)

And typically CDMA carriers do not permit phones from other CDMA carriers to be added to their database.

The 8530 cannot be unlocked, since it does not use a SIM card.

What you are referring to is "flashing", not "unlocking". Flashed devices on other CDMA carrier's networks may not always work. Cricket sells their own BlackBerry now, so they might not let you use a flashed Sprint device on their BIS.
