Did NOT use Backup/Restore or "Switch my Device" on Desktop.
Did everything from scratch.
Put my SIM in the device, battery, turned it on.
It asked for my Blackberry ID and password - entered it and it took.
Was then able to setup my e-mail accounts with no problem, used App World to download a whole bunch of my old apps from there, installed Google Sync and hooked in my contacts and calendar. Set up BB Protect, managed to back up to there and even utilized it to locate the device. No problems at all . . .
Until this morning!!!!
I get a message on the phone from the Protect app prompting me to login with my BB ID - but I got the message: Unable to login to your Blackberry ID account
I went to BlackBerry Protect on my PC - and from there I am able to login with no problem at all. But not on the device.
Not only do I keep getting this "Unable to login to your Blackberry ID account" when trying to get into BB Protect on the 9900, I also can't get into my e-mail settings (figured I would try to resend service books - no go), nor can I get into "My World" through "App World" - all of which I did successfully just 12 hours ago!!!!
To be sure, I do have data access. e-mail flows, sync works - just keep getting pestered about the Blackberry ID login - and keep getting rejected - even though I succeed getting in on blackberry.com with the correct ID and password!!!
I tried logging into my carriers BIS server (cellcom.blackberry.com) - and it too rejects my user ID!!!
I called my carrier - and they verified that the PIN they see associated with my account is the 9900 I am using - and they see my username and password as I know it. I also verified with them that they are using BIS 4.01.
So what gives? What am I supposed to do? There is no way I am wiping this and starting from scratch - and even if I do - who is to say it won't happen all over again?
And the only somewhat related comment from RIM was this from the Knowledge Base:
"Unable to login to your BlackBerry ID account" or "Unable to update your BlackBerry ID account information" error occurs on a BlackBerry smartphone running BlackBerry 7
Please, someone, help me out here????
