How to check your e-mail on your Blackberry and on your computer

1/1/2012

Step 1. Set up a gmail account
Step 2. Forward all incoming mail to the e-mail given to you by your carrier
Step 3. Now you have e-mail you can check both on your Blackberry and on your computer

You won't have attachments, but you can check your e-mail on any computer. Can you even do that on BES email?

I've never used BES, I don't use BBM or any other blackberry services. That being said, do I have a valid argument?

Is there a way to stop my Blackberry from auto-accepting appointments

Is there a way to stop my berry from auto-accepting appointments and putting them on my calendar?

Thanks.

Answer:
If I delete a calendar invite, instead of accepting or declining it, the meeting will go on my calendar marked tentative. I consider this a safety feature, since it keeps you from losing the meeting info if you accidentally delete it. Declining the meeting will cause it to not be put on the calendar.

I'm on BES, if you're on BIS or not using Outlook, your results may be different.

How can I tweak the Bold 9000 with SIM Card so that I can access App World, upgrade to OS5?

12/12/2011

A friend gave me a Bold 9000 to play with. What I'd like to do is set it up to use G-mail, contacts, calendar & tasks. If it's possible I'd like to add in app usage. Assumingly all on the wi-fi.

About the phone; it's running OS4. I've heard that I need OS5 to get native G-mail support. The phone was originally on the Rogers network with a SIM card. I've got an active Rogers pre-paid SIM card, but the card/phone doesn't have a data plan with it, only calling & SMS.

Can I somehow tweak the Bold 9000 to let me use the SIM Card so that I can access App World, upgrade to OS5, and then set-up the G-mail connections I'd like? I've got the card installed in the Bold right now and it receives texts. I'm missing the option in the Setup folder to set up a new e-mail account, and I've got an active wi-fi connection while trying to do this all.

Plus, if I choose to activate it in the near future, I'd hate to miss out on downloading some of those freebie apps.

I'm no stranger to BlackBerries. I liked using the Curve I had 2 years ago but gave it up when I left the company that was paying for it. It was really handy to have around.

Answer:

If you mean tablet use only, eg. Micro tablet, then just addon the blackberry data plan and use BBSAK to shrink out everything with "phone", everything but the browser and what it depends on, remove the camera, video camera, etc.

It's possible, but you'll end up nuking the OS if you don't get it right the first few or more tries. Just letting you know. I am going to either repurpose my 9700 as a camera (shrink out bloody everything) or as a wifi browsing PDA that doesn't need a SIM, eg. Nothing but wifi browsing.

But circumventing BIS/carrier data is stealing.

Will my Blackberry Curve 8530 Email/ Data work without a data plan?

I'm with koodo and have a android phone and have the data saver package and basically i get charged data as i use it and long story short hotmail works and my phone fetches email/data as per my settings.

Im thinking abt getting a blackberry locked to koodo (curve 8530) and keeping my current voice plan and keeping the current data saver plan, so basically i will have data BUT I WONT HAVE the blackberry add on.

will i still be able to receive hotmail emails on the blackberry???? when im not on wifi of course.

If you guys need help with understanding koodo plans im adding the link, I already have the Data Saver option, which starts from $5 a mth and goes up to $25 depending on data usage.

Oh wait it wont let me, anyways if u need help, just go to koodo.ca and select plans and then add ons.

Answer:

Blackberry uses BIS which are their own servers so regular data will not work with any BB. Your carrier has to "register" your BB with BIS servers in order for email/data and other internet related services to work.

My GoDaddy email not working on my Blackberry, HELP!

12/9/2011

I spoke to RIM who confirmed that POP3 GoDaddy accounts are not working. They said not all GoDaddy accounts are not working - just some. They said it would be resolved "maybe later today or tomorrow - I should keep checking".
They also said that it most likely that I will have to delete the GoDaddy POP3's from my blackberry and re-install.
URGH!!!!!

Is it possible to keep my Rogers Blackberry email despite being with a new carrier?

i just recently signed up with Wind Mobile and told Rogers to reduce my plan to the cheastest possible until i can cancel with no fee. i have an account with www rogers.blackberry com where i signed up for BIS it seems like i cannot create an account with www windmobile.blackberry com as everything has to be done on the device itself now. i used to have an email user@rogers blackberry net is it possible to keep this email despite being with a new carrier? i doubt it but i thought id ask and if so if i delete the email address is it gone for good?

Answer:

Carrier named emails stay with the carrier. Once you leave the carrier, you leave that email name. You would need to create a new one with your new carrier. I never recommend using the carrier email, because of situations like this.

Blackberry email app is showing all my gmail labels instead of just the Inbox

12/3/2011

Since gmail app is no longer supported on blackberry, I used the native email app to get my personal email on my Bold 9900.

The native email app is showing all my gmail labels instead of just the Inbox. This is absolutely nightmarish since I am subscribed to quite a few mailing lists/groups for which I've created gmail filters. These mails never show up in my Inbox on gmail website or the gmail blackberry app which I used to have.

However the native email app on my blackberry shows all email instead of just the inbox.

I requested our IT support person for help and she said blackberry does not support gmail well and I should ask my boss to approve for a non-BB device(our IT supports Android and iPhone as well).

I hope some fellow BB user can help me resolve this.

Answer:

A few items here... The gmail app does still work, just not supported, the trick is to try and find it and DL it if you can.

Your IT person is also right the technically Google has never really supported BB devices especially if you had it set up as IMAP which it should be.

The way to get around it is to use BBSAK and delet the gmail enhanced plugin and its .cod files so that you will have a regular inbox native the way it use to be on all BBs before the enhanced plugin. That is wht I did and got my old inbox back again. You can then set filters from your BB anyway you want and you should be able to control your inbox.

The only thing I am concerned aboput is that I hope I am reading right what you are trying to do and advicing you right. If not please let me know and I will be glad to research further but this works for me.

It's taking too long for my Blackberry 9930 to get new emails

12/1/2011

On one of my email accounts it can take up too 15min for my 9930 to get new mail. It's a roadrunner email account. If I send a test email my computer gets the email in under 10 sec but my BB takes 10-15 minutes. Not sure why....

Also, does having the BB on a wi-fi network slow down BB push email?

thx

Answer:

WiFi makes no difference in delivery of push e-mail to your device. Chances are that your roadrunner e-mail account is setup under POP3 rather than IMAP. Accounts setup via IMAP (like Gmail) give you near instant delivery of your e-mails to your device. When an e-mail is setup via POP3 it does not provision for instant e-mail delivery. The BIS server will poll your e-mail inbox every 10-15 minutes to see if there is new e-mail. If there is, it will automatically push it to your device.

This is how it works for Outlook Web Access accounts (which I assume are similar to Roadrunner e-mail accounts). On my OWA e-mail setup, I get messages about 10 minutes after they hit my inbox. Not ideal, but it gets the job done...

How do I retreive emails from RIM serve that have been deleated on my Blackberry?

11/25/2011

Hi all. I work for an IT company and one of our clients needs some emails from about 6 months ago in a legal case. Its a Rogers phone (@rogers.blackberry.net) and the emails aren't on the phone any longer. I was told by Rogers even though its their phone this email is managed by RIM and I would have to contact them. Would RIM still have these emails stored anywhere? Thanks all.

I doubt it, but I suppose it's possible. I'm assuming that the e-mails were sent to the @rodgers.blackberry.net account?

I would contact Rodgers again and have them escalate the ticket up to RIM. That way you'll be able to speak to someone directly from RIM about the situation. I think your client is probably screwed, I doubt that the e-mails are still available, but I could be wrong. It's worth a shot.
