My Blackberry Bold Trackpad will not Scroll above Navigation Bar

Trackpad is working, but will not scroll above navigation bar. I use touch screen to get it above navigation bar and then it won't scroll below it. Any suggestions?

Answer;

My first suggestion would be to pull the battery and give it a few seconds. Many issues with BlackBerrys can often be resolved by this simple trick. Give it a try and see if it helps.

Are you running a custom theme? Has it worked at all in the past or has it never worked? Sometimes theme developers have flaws in their themes that can cause scrolling problems if they didn't create the scroll direction path correctly.

How do I change the housing on the Blackberry Bold 9780?

12/17/2011

I own a black Bold 9780, but I really wanted to change the housing to white, so here are my questions:
- Is it actually easy to change it?
- Will the 9700 housing (the only one I can find to purchase online) fit my phone?
- Can you recommend me a good housing? (All the ones I've seen on Amazon have mixed reviews, one person says it's great, the other says it's rubbish)

Thanks, everyone.

Also, those of you who have WhiteBerry, does it get really dirty with time?

Answer:

it actually really easy to change the 97XX housing.

Can I keep BBM on my iPhone?

12/14/2011

I'm due an upgrade from my Bold 9700.

I really like the idea of an iPhone but I love the BBM application too much and it's really the only thing keeping me with BB (I would go for a Torch 9800).

Does anyone know of a way to keep BBM whether it be on the iPhone or by paying for a cheap BBM only package or something similar?

Any advice would be great.

Thanks,

Answer:

SOME! depending on your carrier have been able to Keep BBM on a wifi only device while using a NON BBM phone as their primary phone.

I know one Rogers user who had a Windows Mobile phone purchased off contract, and used their BB Data Plan, they got all the access they needed with the WinMo phone, AND their Wifi enabled BlackBerry could still BBM.

that is the only option you MAY have but it MAY not work

How can I tweak the Bold 9000 with SIM Card so that I can access App World, upgrade to OS5?

12/12/2011

A friend gave me a Bold 9000 to play with. What I'd like to do is set it up to use G-mail, contacts, calendar & tasks. If it's possible I'd like to add in app usage. Assumingly all on the wi-fi.

About the phone; it's running OS4. I've heard that I need OS5 to get native G-mail support. The phone was originally on the Rogers network with a SIM card. I've got an active Rogers pre-paid SIM card, but the card/phone doesn't have a data plan with it, only calling & SMS.

Can I somehow tweak the Bold 9000 to let me use the SIM Card so that I can access App World, upgrade to OS5, and then set-up the G-mail connections I'd like? I've got the card installed in the Bold right now and it receives texts. I'm missing the option in the Setup folder to set up a new e-mail account, and I've got an active wi-fi connection while trying to do this all.

Plus, if I choose to activate it in the near future, I'd hate to miss out on downloading some of those freebie apps.

I'm no stranger to BlackBerries. I liked using the Curve I had 2 years ago but gave it up when I left the company that was paying for it. It was really handy to have around.

Answer:

If you mean tablet use only, eg. Micro tablet, then just addon the blackberry data plan and use BBSAK to shrink out everything with "phone", everything but the browser and what it depends on, remove the camera, video camera, etc.

It's possible, but you'll end up nuking the OS if you don't get it right the first few or more tries. Just letting you know. I am going to either repurpose my 9700 as a camera (shrink out bloody everything) or as a wifi browsing PDA that doesn't need a SIM, eg. Nothing but wifi browsing.

But circumventing BIS/carrier data is stealing.

What is the warranty on Blackberry bold touch 9900 screen?

12/9/2011

I received my bold touch 9900 as an upgrade in october 2011. I experienced problems with the screen freezing for no reason and very short battery life. About a month after I got the phone, the internal lcd cracked. I never dropped my phone, I always kept it in its pouch, and there is absolutely no scratches or any physical damage to the handset. Yet when I took it for repair under warranty, they told me the crack was caused by physical damage, and I had to pay for the repairs!

I would like to know if it is possible for the lcd to break without external physical damage, and if so, what can I tell the service provider to make them fix it under warranty?

Answer:

The only way I can think that would break is if you flex the phone, do you keep it in your back pocket and sat on it by any chance?

I doubt you can get them to fix it under warranty though.

I am about to do a trade for a blackberry bold 9900 but i have a few questions. My iphone 4 16GB and the persons Blackberry Bold 9900 are in like new condition with all original accessories in box. my questions/concerns are.

1. Is this a fair trade? especially considering he wants extra cash on top of the trade? (seems to me both the iphone 4 and blackberry bold go for the same price on ebay)

2. I think it is from T-Mobile which is not my carrier so will this give me issues if i want 4g connectivity?

3. given the fact that im going to be buying someone elses phone is this going to make it differcult/impossible for me to use since it is registered to them?

Which Blackberry is better AT&T Bold or Sprint Tour

12/2/2011

I wanted to know a comparison of the keyboard and size of an AT&T Bold vs a Sprint Tour. I currently own a Sprint Tour since it's release and my work bought me a Torch 9800 (which i sold on ebay) then purchased an Android Atrix per my boss's request. I am not really interested in an Android device or any of the latest BB devices, so I am looking to purchase an AT&T Bold 9700. I can see from gsmarena that the Bold is slightly lighter, and smaller in width/height, but the keyboard appears to be a little larger than the Tour. Can anyone definitely tell me I am correct in my thinking? I really like my Tour but need an AT&T device. Thanks!

Answer:

They are the same keyboard the tour is a bigger/phone different look and lighter as you know. What made my decision easier back then was the no wifi on the tour. For me wifi is a must.

How can My Blackberry Bold 9900 control my music system?

11/28/2011

I've cobbled together a whole house audio system which basically has my music living on my windows PC upstairs that streams to an apple TV downstairs connected to two audio receivers with multiple pairs of speakers. With my wife's iPod/iPad I have access to control the music using it's remote application and it's really slick when it works. I can search/find songs play lists and out comes the music. Success is 50/50, sometimes I need to reboot the apple TV and sometimes restart iTunes.

I'm now looking for something more blackberry friendly. I've got a bold 9900 and a playbook on the way. Ideally I'd have an application running on my PC and a device downstairs plugged into my stereo that I can stream to. I'd use my playbook/bold as a remote where I can view all my tunes and select which ones I want to play/queue.

Anyone got any good low cost suggestions that are blackberry friendly? The apple TV was a great deal at $99.

If I can't find anything good I may need to go out and buy a used iTouch just for a remote as my wife complains everytime I snag one of her devices to play music... she's been trying to convince me to go iphone/pad but I'm resisiting.

BTW I'm open to running Linux and also have a PS3/Wii I could stream to but in past experience I always needed to have the TV on to view the music through these devices, I want to avoid that by seeing the playlists/songs on the Playbook/Bold. I'd also like to avoid streaming from the device itself to save on battery and not tie up any one device for playing music. What I'm really looking for is song control that is cross compatible with the bold or playbook depending on which one I have in my hand at any given time.

Thanks

I'm not sure how A2DP would help here as I really don't want to have to stream from the PB or BB, I want to use them as controls with the computer being the source. That would allow me to walk away with the devices and still have the music playing (and not draining the devices batteries)

I downloaded and gave Tiggit a try, it doesn't remove the flakey iTunes from the equation but I'm at least getting basic music control and I can target the apple TV as a speaker device. A question though on Tiggit, what's the difference between the demo and full version? The demo only allows me to browse by songs which is a real pain with 8k+ songs. Ideally I'd like to browse by artist or album much like I can on Apple products.

Also does anyone know if Tiggit is being ported to the playbook?

Still looking for better options other then having to leverage iTunes+Apple TV if anyone has any!

How do I install os 5.0 on Blackberry bold 9000

11/26/2011

I bought a playbook today and want to bridge to it with Bold 9000. It's currently running 4.6 so I need to upgrade it to 5.0. I've tried on my own with no luck. It was letting me do it but said I needed to delete 24mb of data to do it. Not knowing what to delete I erased the whole thing tried again and it said update only for active bb subscribers. So I restored my phone but since then its come up with that message.
Also on my desktop manager it comes up with a different phone number to mine possible because it belonged to a family member before mine it could be their old number, could this cause problems? If so how do I update it to display the correct information. The BB itself works fine bbm e-mail etc all work and am on a contract with the bb bundle included. Am on T-mobile I downloaded the OS from their site. Am just stuck and I really like the playbook and want to use it to its full potential. All help is appreciated.

What's teh difference between the Blackberry 9780 and the 9900

11/25/2011

I have a Torch 9800, which I got on a promotional deal for my contract a few months ago. I like it, but I am finding the slider a little annyoing as I am always typing and I don't really like the "stiff" feel that the keys have. They are fine, and much better than a lot of qwerty phones I have tried but I prefer the Bold keyboard. Particulary the 9780, and the 9900.

I have two choices, I am going to give my Torch to my friend who had her BlackBerry stolen and can't pay for another one right now. I'll get myself either the Bold 9780 which I have seen around, and I have seen the PlayBook heavily discounted so I thought I'd get one too!

But I am wondering if I should just ignore the PlayBook and get the Bold 9900. For the price of this I can get the Bold 9780 and a PlayBook, but if I go for the 9900 - I can only afford that.

My use for my BlackBerry really is these things: BBM, Email, SMS messaging, Twitter, Whatsapp, Music, a few apps which I think are available for the 9780 such as Dictionary & Thesaurus, Shazam Encore, Smoothie, World Clock, BB Protect, Evernote, Fancytran, BB Wallet, WeatherEye, Sudoku Supreme, some Spanish newspaper apps, Trainline, The Independent, and two online radio apps and very occasioanlly I play Sim City.

I know the Bold 9780 has a smaller screen and isn't touch screen. That doesn't bother me at all as I would be able to use the PlayBook via Bridge to browse the web. But what I am not sure is whether I should buy another OS6 device or just ignore the PlayBook and get the 9900?

Everyone I see with the 9900 says it is amazing and jumps miles ahead of the older BlackBerries.

What's your thoughts? And no, I am not ever going back to iOS, Android, and I'm not going to buy a WP7 phone. I love my BlackBerry and I'm sticking with RIM.

Thank you.
