So a few days ago I bought a cellphone off of this guy on the internet. Turns out it was stollen. So I took the chance and bought a cell phone again off the internet (kijiji) This time I made sure to get the IME # from the seller first. Turns out the phone is not stollen.
I ended up getting the bb bold 9700. And I absoulty love it.

To be honest at first I was kinda disapointed with it. It seemed kinda glitchy and not to good. Then I did the OS 6 update and WOOOW!!! What a difference. It was like a whole new phone. I am so impressed with this phone. The phone quality is just amazing 10/10. It was better than talking on the house phone.

BBM...... is just amazing now. So cool and so many options it is great. It so nice comunicating on BBM. Just makes texting that much more fun. You can play games on there with other BBM users. 10/10

The trackpad.... I just fell in love with that right away. See, I have big fingers and with the touch screen on my Android it was so hard clicking on certain things. I would always be clicking the wrong thing. Its so frustrating. With this its like using a mouse accept better. And now my screen is not always gross looking from my fingers. I love this feature. Have not found anything I hate about it. 10/10

BB maps..... This i must admit I dont like to much. Its got really cool features. Its really accurate. I just dont like the look of it. I do like how it shows how fast I am going and it was dead on. It hard to zoom in and frustrating. Maybe I just need to get used of it a bit more and learn all of the options. But for now I give it 5/10

BB bridge.... I really like this. I love how u can look at your email and type emails on your pb. I like how u can BBM on your PB. Really cool on a bigger screen. I dont like how i cant send pics from my pb to my phone though. or music. Kinda sucks. Maybe i just dont know how too????? I give this 8/10 cuz it can use a few more features.

BB Playbook..... I love everything about this device. Although it can use more apps. That is the only problem. other than that great picture quality. Amazing graphics. Apps to Go is awesome... can make a resume or what ever i want. Games are really fun and cool to play. I like how u can hook it up to big screen tv and watch videos from the internet. Also nice for watching movies and listening to music. .. 10/10

I ended up buying my gf the Curve 9300, she just fell in love with it after I did the OS6 update for it. I am gonna get her the new Bold 9900 or the torch 9810.

I dont know how BB has a bad name right now. I have barely any complaints about there products. I have owned Androids....iPhones...and in MY OPINION I find BB to be the best. They are so addicting. Anyways sorry for the long message but I thought I would give my opinion about BB devices I own. Thanks for reading.

Can I trade up for a Blackberry 9900

12/12/2011

I have a pre-owned 9650 and on the site it said I can trade up for a Blackberry  9900 with 40$ to spare. Is the trade up thing real and the 9900 came with a contract or not ?

Answer:
Don't do a trade with any of the major retailers as they give you a very low value for your phone! You can easily sell a good condition 9800 on kijiji/craigslist around $200 to $250.

Are the Droid Razr and HTC better than the Blackberry?

Saw the Droid Razr and a HTC and was blown away. The graphics, transitions etc were sweet. The 8MP camera was awesome. Macro shots were like a pro camera.
I can totally see the love for Android by its users. My mouth was watering on the sheer gadget value of the device.

One thing I noticed was that it took a 1.5Ghz dual core Android to match the scrolling and flicking of the 9900.
Would I leave my BLackberry? NO. The phone dialling, notifications, etc were nowhere near the BB. The BB gets things done quickly and in a no-nonsense manner.
It takes a couple of taps to dial a number.
Android is like a woman, it takes lot of rubbing to get it working . Blackberry is like a guy, press a button and its good for action.
Do I want to buy the Droid Razr as a second device ..YESSS....
Will I leave my BB 9900, not a chance in he!!.

Long story, but I must admit that as a confessed BB fanboy, I get the Android and the fan following. The iPhone not so much.

Answer:

Believe me, Androids can be customized to be just as fast and efficient (and even more so) than BB's for most functions. Trying a phone in the store is just the tip of the iceberg, as once you really sit down and explore the phone, you'll see it's much more than just a good looking "gaming" device.

I'm not here to try to "promote" or to "sway" people..because I could honestly care less. BB's are great at some things, and Androids and iPhones others. It's completely preference. I LOVE to customize and tweak my phone. This started with BB's and some of the customization I could do on it, but ultimately it wasn't enough, and I wanted even more things to play with.

But trust me when I say, I can bring up the phone launcher in one "tap", and can also direct dial anyone I have set up with on "tap". No multiple swipes or taps needed..and I can set this up from any Android..not just specific ones.

Which is better iphone 4s or Blackberry?

12/2/2011

I've now had my iPhone 4s for about a month and I notice more and more things each day that it does worse than BB. It's been well documented what the iPhone does better than BlackBerry, so I'm not going to mention those things. I'm only going to talk about the stuff that most people don't bring up when comparing these devices. This is all from the opinion of a 4 or so year BlackBerry owner that has owned Android devices and iPhones before.

-First of all, the iPhone handles WiFi horribly. If I get out of range of my router, it takes close to a minute for the iPhone to realize it needs to switch to 3g for data. It's terribly annoying when I walk my dog and want to listen to music using Audio Galaxy.

-Also, Bluetooth is not only annoying to turn on and off, but like WiFi, it is horribly unintelligent. I had a bluetooth headset on and went into a store to get something and left my phone in the car. I was out of range of my bluetooth. When I got back in the car, my bluetooth reconnected and Siri worked through it fine, but when my wife called me, the phone decided I didn't want to use Bluetooth anymore and redirected the sound to the headset and not my ear peice.

-Email is not nearly as good. If my phone is sitting idle next to me, it stops getting emails until I start using my phone again. This is horrible when I'm deep in project and don't realize that I've gone 2 hours since checking my email

-Reception SUCKS! I get complaints almost every day that people I'm on the phone with can't hear me. I've never had this problem with any BB I've owned which were used in the same locations as I'm having problems with my iPhone.

-Battery is decent at best. I can get through the day without charging, but it's cutting it VERY close, usually going to bed with about 8% battery left. My 9930 wasn't any better, but every other BB I owned was MUCH better.

-I miss my physical buttons. I like having a menu button always located in the same location as well as the back button. With the iPhone, each app has these buttons located differently which is more annoying than people would think.

-The lock screen is annoying. I like how with my BB I can press the lock/unlock button on the top of the phone to unlock my phone and it's ready to use. The iPhone I have to press the unlock button (or home button) and then slide the unlock bar to start using my phone. After years of not having to do that, it slows me down noticably.

-iOS5 doesn't recieve Twitter notifications for new tweets. I use Twitter a lot and have to manually check for new tweets instead of getting a notification every 30 minutes. It's a known bug on iOS 5 that is annoying.

I know some of that stuff seems like I'm nitpicking, but combined, they are a big deal. The iPhone 4s is incredibly smooth and fast, but it doesn't do the imporatant things well.

How to Extend the Battery Life of your Blackberry

11/30/2011

The first specs we look at when choosing a cellphone are the battery life numbers. We know that eventually we’re going to see performance loss, and [Dr. West] wanted to see if there’s a way to delay the*inevitable. What he found is that ambient temperature affects the battery throughout its life. He set out tobuild a phone chiller to slow the degradation of the battery.

The research that he points to shows that at room temperature, a Lithium battery will lose 20% of its capacity each year. This seems like a dubious number so do share links to studies that state otherwise in the comments. Whether that 20% is right or not, the point is that cooling the battery will preserve it. With that in mind, [Dr. West] put together a pod that uses a peltier cooler and a heat sink to host his Blackberry while he sleeps. He figures he can reduce the capacity lost per year from 20% down to 14%. This of course comes at the expense of running that cooler every night (in addition to charging the phone when it needs it). But perhaps this solution will spark an idea that leads to a better one.

How do I retreive emails from RIM serve that have been deleated on my Blackberry?

11/25/2011

Hi all. I work for an IT company and one of our clients needs some emails from about 6 months ago in a legal case. Its a Rogers phone (@rogers.blackberry.net) and the emails aren't on the phone any longer. I was told by Rogers even though its their phone this email is managed by RIM and I would have to contact them. Would RIM still have these emails stored anywhere? Thanks all.

I doubt it, but I suppose it's possible. I'm assuming that the e-mails were sent to the @rodgers.blackberry.net account?

I would contact Rodgers again and have them escalate the ticket up to RIM. That way you'll be able to speak to someone directly from RIM about the situation. I think your client is probably screwed, I doubt that the e-mails are still available, but I could be wrong. It's worth a shot.

Which Phone should I buy iphone 4s or the android gs2 or Blackberry 9810?

11/25/2011

Could someone please help me,understand why the iphone 4s,and the android gs2 is better then lets say,the bb 9810?? I mean i've used all three, and i must say for being totally bored and having i guess no life, and not caring about security to a certain degree,i now know why there is a huge hype on the iphone, and gs2 there strictly gameing deviices, and this is why i will never ever leave my bb,unless Rim totally blows up lol,i will stand right by them, and if they do go under, then my choice would be android, not a dictatorship runned company like apple.

Answer:

Do the research like everyone else here who owns and happy with their BB. Nobody is goingto be 100% satisfied with anything but you have to make up your own mind.

I had owned a flawless Tour for over 2 years and upgraded to a 9930 that has been rock solid. I don't know any other manufacture so to say that Apple is a dictatorship is wrong, what they are is the best selling Smartphone Comapany in the world for so many reasons I am not going to get sucked in and start a list and leave it at that.

Also if more people would use the search feature we would not have so many duplicate threads asking the same thing or topic over and over again. Good luck with your choices.
