My Blackberry Storm 9530 won't recognize my Micro SD Card

12/21/2011

I have a storm 9530 and I took the 8GB Micro SD card out without turning the phone off. Now it shows up as blank, the phone does not recognize it exsits and when I plug it into my pc with a USB adapter it does not recognize it either.

Is there any saving this as I would rather not loose the photos etc I had on it.

Thanks

I just got this new PC from work and it has an SD card reader slot. This is the first time I ever used the slot. I just plugged it in using an adapter and bang, there was all my photos and data like no big deal.

My Blackberry Bold Trackpad will not Scroll above Navigation Bar

Trackpad is working, but will not scroll above navigation bar. I use touch screen to get it above navigation bar and then it won't scroll below it. Any suggestions?

Answer;

My first suggestion would be to pull the battery and give it a few seconds. Many issues with BlackBerrys can often be resolved by this simple trick. Give it a try and see if it helps.

Are you running a custom theme? Has it worked at all in the past or has it never worked? Sometimes theme developers have flaws in their themes that can cause scrolling problems if they didn't create the scroll direction path correctly.

"because BlackBerry sucks!"

12/20/2011

I've been observing a trend amognst those I know who are issued a BlackBerry for business use: they tend to hate them. In fact, only one of them uses a BlackBerry as a personal phone. I ask them why and the response is always something irrational like "because BlackBerry sucks!" or "You can't do anything with those phones." Then they see the apps I have on my personal 'berry and didn't know BBs were able to do that. Their business phones are limited as to what they can do with them and as a result of this experience they believe that BlackBerry is just a limited device. I think this is part of the reason people are so turned off by BBs.

I know the Androids and iPhones are great products on there own, but do you think the business image and experience helps kill sales to the consumer? Am I on to something or am I way off?

Answer:

Your first sentence is plausible; the last one isn't. I work with lots of young people every day (18-22 year-olds). Keyboards are extremely popular with this set. A good number of the phones are qwerty Androids of one sort or another, but it's clear to me that keyboards are far from dead.

I agree with the premise that the "business tool" image diminishes ("kills" is too strong) consumer interest. It creates a stereotype that says that BlackBerrys are "not for fun". A glance at the BlackBerry web site shows that they're trying to fight that stereotype. The current AT&T commercial for the 9810 in the US goes overboard in the other direction, depicting the BB as a device for slackers. But I think for most people, especially people who haven't used one, BB is perceived as a very button-down device.

Compared to Androids or iPhones I think Blackberry is the best.

So a few days ago I bought a cellphone off of this guy on the internet. Turns out it was stollen. So I took the chance and bought a cell phone again off the internet (kijiji) This time I made sure to get the IME # from the seller first. Turns out the phone is not stollen.
I ended up getting the bb bold 9700. And I absoulty love it.

To be honest at first I was kinda disapointed with it. It seemed kinda glitchy and not to good. Then I did the OS 6 update and WOOOW!!! What a difference. It was like a whole new phone. I am so impressed with this phone. The phone quality is just amazing 10/10. It was better than talking on the house phone.

BBM...... is just amazing now. So cool and so many options it is great. It so nice comunicating on BBM. Just makes texting that much more fun. You can play games on there with other BBM users. 10/10

The trackpad.... I just fell in love with that right away. See, I have big fingers and with the touch screen on my Android it was so hard clicking on certain things. I would always be clicking the wrong thing. Its so frustrating. With this its like using a mouse accept better. And now my screen is not always gross looking from my fingers. I love this feature. Have not found anything I hate about it. 10/10

BB maps..... This i must admit I dont like to much. Its got really cool features. Its really accurate. I just dont like the look of it. I do like how it shows how fast I am going and it was dead on. It hard to zoom in and frustrating. Maybe I just need to get used of it a bit more and learn all of the options. But for now I give it 5/10

BB bridge.... I really like this. I love how u can look at your email and type emails on your pb. I like how u can BBM on your PB. Really cool on a bigger screen. I dont like how i cant send pics from my pb to my phone though. or music. Kinda sucks. Maybe i just dont know how too????? I give this 8/10 cuz it can use a few more features.

BB Playbook..... I love everything about this device. Although it can use more apps. That is the only problem. other than that great picture quality. Amazing graphics. Apps to Go is awesome... can make a resume or what ever i want. Games are really fun and cool to play. I like how u can hook it up to big screen tv and watch videos from the internet. Also nice for watching movies and listening to music. .. 10/10

I ended up buying my gf the Curve 9300, she just fell in love with it after I did the OS6 update for it. I am gonna get her the new Bold 9900 or the torch 9810.

I dont know how BB has a bad name right now. I have barely any complaints about there products. I have owned Androids....iPhones...and in MY OPINION I find BB to be the best. They are so addicting. Anyways sorry for the long message but I thought I would give my opinion about BB devices I own. Thanks for reading.

Why I think my Blackberry is the best!

12/20/2011

I know, everyone has their two cents about RIM’s current situation, highlighting where they’ve failed, where they’ve succeeded and where they’re headed. Today I join the group... sort of.

I’ve had a BlackBerry attached to my hip for over 5 years now, in those years they’ve seen me go through my daily routine, I’ve thrown them in anger, slept with them under my pillow, and some of the most important messages I’ve ever received have come through my BlackBerry. It will go off, take focus and stop me mid-conversation with someone. I lay in bed at night replying to emails and I’ll wake up in the morning to read all the flyers that came in at 3am. This thing is an integral part of my work and personal life and it always will be. Here’s where I think a few things have gone astray in the past few years.

The BlackBerry I know is a best-in-class communications device. Its emails received on my hip in about 3 seconds and replied to in under a minute. It’s BBM/PIN messaging with family or colleagues out in the field. It’s battery life that blows every other device out of the water. Do we all remember the 7200 series? I’m convinced that thing is sitting in my desk drawer with at least 20% battery left.

I’m carefully writing this, but the mistake, if you will, that RIM made was taking these business class devices and putting them on the same consumer level as Apple and Android devices. I can basically pin-point it to when the first Curves hit the shelf, that’s when RIM decided it was going to enter the consumer market and suddenly every Timmy, Sue, and Billy had one in high-school.

Every time I hear the comparison that iPhone or Android beats BlackBerry, I cringe. They aren’t the same devices. It’s like having two oranges and a banana, and stating that the banana will never be like these oranges. That’s right: it’s a banana, it’s not supposto be an orange!

So I think that RIM should have maybe lessened their entry into the consumer market and focused on the business users, but you know what? They’re working on it and I have faith. It’s hard to go from one business idea that you’re so used to and merging that into an existing market. I get that.

BlackBerry is my workhorse, as an Engineer with Rogers in Canada I need it for work most, but it’s nice that it plays music, has Facebook, a web browser, a camera and can do things like play YouTube videos, but to me it will always be the best messaging device, ever. When I want to sit back and play games, I’ll pull out my PlayBook.

I’m proud to say I’ve owned every BlackBerry from the 7250 to the 9900 I have now, and I’m sure I’ll be one of the first in line for the next one, and the next one, and the next one.

Will Blackberry RIM be able to remain relevant with the OS7 device lineup?

12/17/2011

Will RIM be able to remain relevant with the OS7 device lineup for a whole year?
If they were to release a BB7.5, what could it include to keep people satisfied for another year?
So it has been confirmed that it will be at least another year until the first BB10 super phones come out. OS7 was an obvious improvement over OS6, but from many reviews, the interface is still not up to par with Android/iOS/WP. As of now there are no more rumored BB devices until BB10 and there's a year or possibly more until then, which is much longer than any period between releases in the past. The obvious thing to do is to release a software update between now and then to keep people satisfied.

Answer:

os 7 is more than enough

it's a mental thing now, "mass consumption" for some reason is running rim into the ground with all these "spoiled brats" demanding more of stuff that is unnecessary

"century of the self" in full effect ya'll

there is nothing wrong with os 7.1 or the playbook or rim or mike and jim, or anything, stop

How do I change the housing on the Blackberry Bold 9780?

12/17/2011

I own a black Bold 9780, but I really wanted to change the housing to white, so here are my questions:
- Is it actually easy to change it?
- Will the 9700 housing (the only one I can find to purchase online) fit my phone?
- Can you recommend me a good housing? (All the ones I've seen on Amazon have mixed reviews, one person says it's great, the other says it's rubbish)

Thanks, everyone.

Also, those of you who have WhiteBerry, does it get really dirty with time?

Answer:

it actually really easy to change the 97XX housing.
plenty of how-video's on youtube how to dissassemble/assemble your 97XX.

It's taking so long to receive my Facebook messages on my Blackberry.

12/17/2011

Sometimes I don't receive message through facebook for days to my phone and then all of a sudden, I'll receive three in a row from a week earlier.

And the worst part is, is that when I'm on my computer, even then, the message don't show up in Facebook... it's as if they're lost in transit to my phone and as a result, I don't receive them on either my computer or Blackberry.

I'm not talking about email notifications. I'm talking about the actual facebook messages. They seem to just disappear and then show up a week later. One time I received a message from a month earlier, that for some reason I never received.

Any idea how to fix this? It's quite aggravating, not being able to receive messages on either my bb or through my computer browser (chrome).

Answer:

I had no such troubles on my 9800.
I would suggest you go back and check your settings both on your PC and on the phone. There is a place where you are asked whether you wish to receive notifications.

I am puzzled by your statement that even on your PC you miss getting notifications. I think you need to check your settings in FB, on your PC.

Answer:

Without tools, there is no way to remove the camera physically from the phone. It's pretty simple. You will need to open the device and remove the camera.

Your best bet is to find a non camera model and purchase that.

Do you have an active BLACKBERRY Data Plan from your phone service carrier/provider?

Without the proper data plan, you will not be able to use BBM.
